Cybernetik’s Artillery Shell Surface Treatment System is a fully-automated, self- contained, and continuously operating set up for passivation of MS shell surfaces through phosphating. The solution consists of a series of tanks for carrying out sequential operations that deliver a hard, contiguous, and electrically non-conductive surface coating. Phosphating boosts the corrosion and wear resistance, lubricative properties, and adhesion of the shell surface.
Operator uses the loading manipulator to enter the products in batches of five into the artillery shell surface treatment system. Transporters then shift the products to and from multiple tanks to execute various operations viz. degreasing, derusting, activation, phosphating, chromating, sealing, and drying with hot and cold water rinses in between most of these processes. While degreasing and derusting prepare the surface for phosphating, chromating cuts the porosity of the phosphate layer to improve the overall corrosion resistance. Tanks are equipped with dedicated pumps and jackets for fluid recirculation and temperature regulation. Post phosphating, operator unloads the finished products via an unloading manipulator.
